About the opportunity

In this key role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of our software by designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality applications using Python, Django, and related technologies. You will also provide technical leadership, mentor junior developers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.

About your responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust and scalable web applications using Python, Django, and related technologies.
• Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve application performance, reliability, and user experience.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines.
• Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, design, QA) to gather requirements, define technical specifications, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment and maintenance.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Python, Django, and related technologies, and proactively explore and implement new technologies and best practices.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges and provide support to end-users.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and methodologies.
• Mentor junior developers and foster a positive and collaborative team environment.

What you'll need to succeed

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack software development with a strong focus on Python and Django.
• Solid understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including modern frameworks like React, Vue.js, or Angular).
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented programming principles, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills - we'll be looking for you to evidence this at interview
• A passion for learning and a strong desire to continuously improve your skills.
• A proactive and results-oriented approach with a strong work ethic.

Role location

This is a hybrid role so you'll be based from our Cwmbran office twice each week to work and collaborate with colleagues.  There's plenty of free carparking onsite.
