About the opportunity

In this team lead role, you will be responsible for managing a small team while actively  driving the technical direction and success of our software development initiatives. As well as being a hands-on software developer, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality deliverables, and adherence to best practices.

About your responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust and scalable web applications using Python, Django, and related technologies.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve application performance,
  reliability, and user experience.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Guide the team in the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
• Oversee the delivery of software projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that may impact project timelines and success.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team remains at the forefront of innovation.
• Contribute to the development of new software features and applications as needed.
• Lead and mentor a team of 3 software developers and 1 tester, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.

What you'll need to succeed

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in software development with at least 3 years of experience with Python or Django.
• Ideally, you'll have some experience leading or mentoring a small software development team or perhaps you might have deputised for the team leader from time to time.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on finding practical solutions.

Role location

Cwmbran - one day a week as a minimum in the office.
